Connected underground to the existing buildings, the Peakture Hotel has 45 accommodation units in different typologies (double rooms, suites, apartments, rooms for people with disabilities and service apartments) on the upper floors, two conference rooms and administrative offices. The basement and semi-basement of the building are dedicated to the spa function, equipped with a semi-Olympic swimming pool and a children's area with interactive water games. The spa also features relaxation areas and treatment rooms. The reception, bar, lobby and breakfast room are located on the ground floor, in an open-plan space, which opens on the long side to a generous terrace and a panoramic mountain view. In total, the hotel has an area of 6576 sqm distributed over 7 levels, two underground and five above-ground levels. The volume follows and uses the slope of the natural terrain to connect to the existing buildings and to relate to the landscape. Thus, the new extension articulates the proportions and dimensions of the ensemble through gradual volumetric relationships that maintain the balance and complexity of the composition in its entirety. In relation to the landscape, the volumetry of the building has clearly defined limits, in the modernist spirit of the original hotel. The six typologies of accommodation units respond to the different needs of the complex's clients, while offering uninterrupted views of the forest and mountains. The south-facing rooms benefit from terraces and those facing north have generously sized windows. Simple, with a clear geometry and light colors, their interior discreetly supports the view and beauty of nature. In the same spirit, on the ground floor of the building, the reception, lobby, bar and breakfast room are characterized by a calm atmosphere, created with the help of natural colors and materials, as well as by the direct relationship with the main terrace that lets the landscape dominate the impressions. In the spa area, the pool room was specially designed to welcome families with children, hotel guests or external guests. From the reception, the circuit leads you through the generous changing rooms and the shower area to the pools and then to an intimate terrace outside. Starting with the constrains of the site, given its orientation and particularly long shape, and the functions needed to accommodate, the project evolved to incorporate two buildings: the pavilion and the tower. Through their positioning and arrangement, the two main structures create outdoor spaces for the public and community that are used for gatherings, concerts, an open kitchen, a garden, etc.The pavilion, which takes inspiration from the local crafts and architecture, is a long wooden structure covered in reed and finished with adobe and plaster. It runs the length of the site and provides a succession of spaces both indoor and outdoor. The front part has a multifunctional space that opens to the main outdoor courtyard, next to the Danube. Together they function as the main community and public area all year round. At the back, the pavilion gets some small accommodation rooms for guest, an office and a library in the attic. This is a more private space opened to the garden and is designed to accommodate students, artists, researchers and other visitors that come to work or study in the Danube Delta on projects related to the association's programmes. In-between the two parts of the pavilion there is a transitional covered outdoor space, a veranda, that also accommodates a big traditional oven used for community cooking, gatherings and related activities.The tower is a spatial and symbolic articulation for the complex, functioning as a signal from afar, an outlook tower for the community and a museum for the memory of Ivan Patzaikin. The shape resonates with the ambition, pride and perseverance of the local community. On the ground level, the structure is articulating the public front courtyard with the garden and semi-private spaces at the back. Vertically, it is a succession of stories about Ivan Patzaikin’s life, from childhood in the Danube Delta to the olympic champion he has become and the social entrepreneur, a spiral along the axis of life, a continuum reaching out to the world. Visitors are invited to walk through these stages and reach the top of the outlook tower for a view of its surroundings.The design for the tower was meant to be an architectural and engineering feature, a technological achievement that complements the local building traditions. The structure was prefabricated from engineered wood in a specialised workshop in modules big enough to be transported and assembled on site,so to minimise the impact of the construction. The base it’s the only concrete structure that also functions as a treasury for the medals and distinction earned by Ivan Patzaikin throughout his life. The top deck it’s an outlook to the Danube Delta and the village below, contextualising from a different perspective the entire project. <img width="1920" height="1080" width_o="1920" height_o="1080" floor of the Radisson Hotel. We worked on an existing layout of the previous restaurant avoiding elements of a heavy wooden traditional atmosphere of a classical steakhouse. The colour palette of sage greens (7 different codes and 3 different textures), the soft brown leather chairs, the decorative panels made out of traditional transilvanian textiles (grain sacks) and the brown mirrors are the principal elements of the concept. The natural materials, the reflections that multiples the views and the warm light creat a space that feels tactile and upscale, warm and confortable. Overlapping this historical path is a psychological discourse meant to highlight the relevance of ruin as a symbol of our relationship with the past and the relevance of the landscape as an emblem of the escape to an ideal world. The landscapes selected for this exhibition aim to offer the visitors a possible interpretation for their attraction to nature’s picturesque, greatness, destructive power of and to the vestiges of the past, witnesses of times and deeds once considered grandiose. An existing structure where we have been asked to create a concept which will connect the morphology and the mountain elements with the facades and the interior. The concept design took in consideration the minerality of the rocks and the verticality of the dense forest: a concrete groundfloor, the vertical wooden elements and the continuity between interior and exterior. The light is filtered through the wooden elements and enters very deep in the apartments. It is located at the edge of a village with natural mineral waters in Romania, Covasna. The hotel accomodates all the facillities of a 4 star hotel: reception, lobby, restaurant and a small spa. an atelier for an artist is composed by small volumes. Entrances are portected inside the small courtyard around the fountain. The volumes are connected through indoor and outdoor corridors and are spread dynamic, centrifugal around the ax of the fountain. More than four different qualities of outdoor space is created around the house.
